As the 2024 NFL season approaches, CBS Sports has released its ceiling and floor projections for the Cincinnati Bengals, highlighting the team’s potential for a standout year.
Jeff Kerr forecasts the Bengals’ ceiling at an impressive 12-5 record, with a possible Super Bowl appearance. On the flip side, the floor is set at 10-7, with an early exit in the Wild Card round.
“If Joe Burrow is healthy, the Bengals are a Super Bowl contender in the AFC,” Kerr noted. “When Burrow plays in more than 11 games during a regular season, the Bengals have reached a conference championship game. With Burrow having a healthy training camp, that’s already a positive sign. The Bengals are also in a strong position with wide receiver Tee Higgins on the franchise tag and a likely Ja’Marr Chase extension by Week 1. The team has bolstered its offensive line with new additions Amarius Mims and Trent Brown, and made a smart move by signing safety Geno Stone while also re-signing Vonn Bell. Cincinnati is well-positioned to make a serious Super Bowl run.”
The Bengals’ fortunes are heavily tied to Burrow’s health, and having Higgins and Chase fully available throughout the season would greatly enhance their chances. However, their statuses remain uncertain for the opening game against New England, adding an element of unpredictability to Cincinnati’s season opener.
Despite these uncertainties, the Bengals have the components to be a top contender, provided key players remain healthy and the team’s offseason adjustments pay off.
