In the New York Jets’ 32-19 season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers, there was at least one bright spot for the team—Aaron Rodgers made it through the game healthy and played relatively well for much of the contest. However, the Jets struggled to keep their drives alive and couldn’t slow down the 49ers’ offense, even without their star running back Christian McCaffrey. Among the Jets’ loyal fanbase, actor and comedian Adam Sandler joined the *Manningcast* during the second half of the game, adding some humor to an otherwise disappointing night.
As Peyton and Eli Manning chatted with Sandler about his Jets fandom and various projects, they all watched as Rodgers threw a crucial interception in the third quarter, killing what had the potential to be a promising drive for New York. Always quick with a joke, Sandler immediately blamed himself for the turnover.
“See, maybe you should get rid of me. I don’t want to be here. I’m going. That was terrible, fellas. I caused that,” Sandler quipped, making the Manning brothers burst into laughter. “I shouldn’t be here, man. This was a mistake for you guys and for the Jets.”
Jets Fall to 49ers on Monday Night Football Season Opener
Sandler’s Jets fandom has long been part of his public persona, famously referenced in his 1999 film *Big Daddy*. While his comedic take on the team’s fortunes hasn’t changed, Jets fans are hoping Aaron Rodgers can turn things around, despite their rough start to the season.

Losing to the 49ers in Santa Clara is not the end of the world, as San Francisco is one of the league’s best teams. However, the Jets will need to regroup quickly after such a decisive defeat. With Rodgers coming off a year-long absence, he still needs time to build chemistry with young stars like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall. Although it’s early, New York’s path to success requires immediate adjustments. Fortunately for the Jets, the season is long, and they’ve already faced one of their toughest opponents on the schedule.
