The highly anticipated return of Tennessee’s fan-favorite orange pants, affectionately known as “orange britches,” is set for Saturday night as the Volunteers take on Kent State in Neyland Stadium.
Some fans were disappointed when Tennessee didn’t sport the orange pants during their game against NC State in Charlotte. However, the wait is finally over. The Vols announced the return of the orange britches on Twitter Thursday morning, revealing the uniforms for this weekend’s matchup.

This game will also mark the first time this season that Tennessee will wear their traditional orange jerseys. In their season opener against Chattanooga, the team opted for their Smokey Grey alternate uniforms. For the NC State matchup, they were the road team and could have worn the orange pants but decided to save them for their Neyland Stadium debut.
Last season, Tennessee donned the orange pants twice—once against UTSA at home and once against Missouri on the road. The results were mixed, with a win over UTSA and an embarrassing 36-7 loss to Missouri. Now, the Vols have a chance to shake off the bad luck tied to the orange pants with what many expect to be a dominant performance against Kent State.
With Kent State being one of the lowest-ranked teams in the FBS, fresh off a loss to FCS school Saint Francis, this game is expected to be a blowout. The 7:45 p.m. kickoff will give the orange britches even more attention under the Neyland lights as the Vols proudly return to their traditional Pantone 151 orange in front of their home crowd.
