Following the Indiana Fever’s thrilling 110-109 win over the Dallas Wings, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James took to Instagram to express his admiration for Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell’s exceptional performance.
The Fever bounced back from two consecutive losses with a decisive victory, thanks to Clark setting a new WNBA rookie scoring record and Mitchell’s standout contribution. James, a vocal supporter of Clark and the Fever, praised the duo on his Instagram story, calling them a “Dynamic Duo!!” and sharing an image of Clark and Mitchell.
In the game, Clark achieved a career-high 35 points and eight assists, setting the WNBA single-season rookie scoring record. Mitchell added 30 points, and together, they accounted for 65 of the Fever’s 110 points. According to Stat Mamba, Clark and Mitchell made history as the first WNBA duo to each score at least 30 points and hit five three-pointers in a single game. Their remarkable performance has been pivotal for the Fever, who are on the brink of making the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Currently, the Fever are seeded sixth in the standings and are likely to face the third-seeded Connecticut Sun in a best-of-three playoff series, although the Minnesota Lynx, who are second, are also a potential opponent. The Fever have a 1-3 record against the Sun and a 1-2 record against the Lynx this season.
LeBron James has consistently shown support for Clark throughout her impressive rookie season. Most recently, after Clark recorded her second career triple-double on September 5, James posted “HI HATERS!!!” on his Instagram story following the Fever’s 93-86 win over the Los Angeles Sparks.
Clark’s remarkable performances have garnered significant attention, contributing to the growing popularity of the WNBA. Alongside James, NBA legends such as Shaquille O’Neal and Isiah Thomas have also praised her achievements.
