The Washington Commanders demonstrated how to effectively use bulletin board material against an opponent after their impressive victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
Few expected the Commanders to score 38 points on the road against a desperate Cincinnati team that was looking for its first win after starting the season 0-2. However, under the leadership of quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders outperformed the Bengals from beginning to end, ultimately winning 38-33 and leaving Cincinnati with more questions than answers.
In the aftermath of the game, the Commanders’ social media team took a playful jab at Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who had made an unflattering remark about their offense earlier in the week. Taylor-Britt had commented to local reporters, “They don’t make him do a lot. They keep it really simple for him. [It’s a] nice college offense [and] Kingsbury’s the OC. They move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him. I heard his pass percentage is very high, but he’s only throwing short routes. Some intermediate stuff, quick throws.”

In response, Daniels put on a show against the Bengals, matching the number of touchdowns he threw (2) with the number of incompletions (2). The rookie quarterback completed 21 passes for 254 yards, including two deep touchdown throws to veteran wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Crucially, Daniels did not turn the ball over and also added 39 rushing yards.
The Commanders’ offense showcased its effectiveness, accumulating 356 total yards and consistently finding the end zone without settling for field goals.
With the strong start to his professional career, Daniels has given Commanders fans plenty of reasons for optimism. On the other hand, Taylor-Britt may want to think twice before making bold statements in the future, especially after this week’s performance by the Washington offense. The contrasting fortunes of the two teams underscore the importance of humility in the NFL, especially when facing a determined opponent.
