The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up to strengthen their defense, but the big payoff may come in 2025. While head coach Kirby Smart remains focused on guiding his team back to the SEC Championship, he’s also keeping an eye on the future of Georgia football.
According to recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong from On3.com, Georgia is on the verge of securing not one but two highly sought-after five-star recruits: defensive lineman Justus Terry and pass rusher Elijah Griffin.
“Manchester (Ga.) High five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry was back between The Hedges on Saturday for the Bulldogs’ victory over Auburn,” Wiltfong wrote in his October 7 report. “He stayed the night, and the in-state powerhouse remains the clear favorite.”
Terry is currently ranked as the No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2025 class by On3.com, while Griffin holds the No. 1 spot at the same position. Griffin, who is set to take his official visit to Athens this weekend, is also celebrating his birthday—sparking speculation that he may commit to Georgia as part of the festivities. Georgia remains the team to beat for both prospects.

On3.com gives Georgia an overwhelming 96.8% chance of landing Terry over Alabama, who trails with just a 1.2% chance. Terry is ranked as the No. 8 overall player in the 2025 class, and his projected NIL value is set at $369,000.
Currently, the Bulldogs have the No. 5 ranked recruiting class for 2025, according to 247Sports. Adding both Terry and Griffin would significantly boost Georgia’s standing as Smart looks to continue building a defensive powerhouse for years to come.
