College Football Analyst Highlights Concern with Tennessee’s Quarterback
College football analyst David Pollack has pointed out a potential issue with Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava.
After a tough loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks, in which Tennessee’s offense struggled, the game ended with Iamaleava taking off on the final play. Despite an overall impressive season, Pollack has identified a specific area of concern for the young quarterback.
Pollack, a former Georgia player and College Gameday analyst, observed that Iamaleava tends to react to pressure by lowering his eyes and opting to run, rather than staying in the pocket to make a throw. He explained, “When Nico feels pressure, his eyes drop, and instead of sliding and looking to pass, he takes off. He’s a good athlete, but he needs to learn how to do more damage from the pocket.”
Given that Iamaleava is a redshirt freshman and in his first season as a starting quarterback, this tendency is understandable. However, it’s expected that with more experience and reps throughout the season, he will likely address and improve this aspect of his game.
