The Tennessee Volunteers have secured another commitment, this time from Tyson Bacon, a 2026 defensive line prospect. Bacon, currently rated as a three-star recruit, made his decision shortly after attending the Alabama vs. Tennessee game. His commitment marks the second one for Tennessee following the game, with four-star offensive lineman Brandon Anderson also pledging to the Vols.
Bacon has been a long-term target for Tennessee and spoke with *Tennessee on SI* about his visit and his decision to commit. He expressed his excitement about joining the Vols and praised the university’s environment. “It was just a great place! The environment was amazing and it felt like there isn’t a place like Rocky Top!” Bacon said. Although he still has two years remaining before signing, he felt it was the right time to commit.
Bacon also provided insights into his visit, sharing how the electric atmosphere at Neyland Stadium during the Alabama game played a significant role in his decision. “The atmosphere of Neyland was amazing. 100,000 fans so loud, you couldn’t hear if I talked in your ear,” Bacon recounted. The energy of the fans and the sense of family he experienced during his visit reinforced his feeling that Tennessee was the right fit.
During his visit, Bacon had conversations with head coach Josh Heupel and assistant coaches Rodney Garner and Chop. The coaches encouraged him to continue working hard and stay focused on his development.
Tennessee is expected to gain momentum with more recruits in the coming weeks, as the excitement from the Alabama game and the growing buzz around the program continue to attract attention from high school prospects. Bacon’s commitment is another promising addition to the Volunteers’ future defensive line.
