After unsuccessful attempts to acquire stars like Damian Lillard and Donovan Mitchell, the Miami Heat could now set their sights on Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Uncertainty around Giannis’ future with the Bucks has sparked speculation, and according to CBS Sports’ Bill Reiter, an anonymous NBA executive suggests Miami is one of the 29-year-old’s preferred destinations.
“The teams I’ve heard are Miami and New York—the Nets, not the Knicks,” the executive said, according to Reiter. Miami could potentially offer a trade package featuring Terry Rozier, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jovic, and draft picks. However, Reiter noted that the Oklahoma City Thunder, a Western Conference contender, might be able to outmatch any offers for Giannis.
Discussing the Thunder’s potential interest, the executive added, “I haven’t heard them mentioned, but if you’re Milwaukee, you might just say, ‘I don’t care where you want to go. If you want out, we’re getting the best deal we can.’ And Oklahoma City could certainly put together a strong package.”
The Heat, who have started the season 1-3, will likely continue to monitor the Bucks’ performance, hoping Milwaukee’s struggles could increase the chances of Giannis seeking a new team.
