Kentucky wrapped up their final exhibition game on Tuesday night, securing a win over Minnesota State before their season opener next Monday. Although the Wildcats started slowly, particularly with their shooting, they gained momentum largely due to Jaxson Robinson, who made eight three-pointers.
Defensively, Kentucky made a big impact, accumulating 15 steals. They also managed turnovers well, improving from five in the first half to just one in the second half.
Here’s a look at three standout players from the game:
1. Jaxson Robinson
Robinson was the game’s MVP, delivering a much-needed spark when Kentucky was struggling. He ended with 24 points, hitting 8-of-12 from beyond the arc, along with six rebounds and three assists. All of his shots came from three-point range, highlighting his potential as a leading scorer and NBA prospect.
2. Otega Oweh
Oweh was a force on both ends of the floor, scoring Kentucky’s first seven points and helping the team through its early struggles. He contributed 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting, six assists, and three rebounds. Defensively, Oweh was active, recording three steals by disrupting passing lanes. Together with Lamont Butler, who added three steals and a block, Oweh forms a strong defensive duo that will challenge opponents this season.
3. Brandon Garrison
Garrison stepped up in place of Amari Williams, who exited early due to a leg injury. Garrison’s physical play was highlighted by an impressive dunk, and he finished with 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, four rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal in just 19 minutes.
Despite a slow start, Kentucky quickly gained control through strong runs late in the first half and into the second. They’ll officially kick off their season on November 4 against Wright State at Rupp Arena.
