Jake Moody, the 49ers kicker, returned to practice on Monday after injuring his kicking ankle on October 6. Here’s what he shared about his recovery process:
Q: Will you be able to play Sunday against the Buccaneers?**
MOODY: “There’s a chance, but I’m not going to rush it. There’s always a possibility.”
Q: How have you been recovering?**
MOODY: “Lots of physical therapy and treatments with the medical team. I’m gradually getting back onto the field, making sure to take all the necessary steps without rushing. I’m focused on steady progress, one step at a time.”
Q: When you watched the replay of your injury, were you surprised it wasn’t worse?**
MOODY: “Medical staff told me they were surprised it wasn’t more severe, considering how it looked. I’m grateful for that. I’ll also be working on tackling better to avoid situations like that.”
Q: Is it better that it’s your kicking foot rather than your planting foot?**
MOODY: “Yes, I’d say so. The plant foot takes on a lot of pressure, especially on kickoffs, and would likely be tougher to recover from. Having it be my kicking foot is probably the better scenario.”
