For the first time this season, Georgia football will host a home night game when they face the Tennessee Volunteers on Nov. 16. The SEC has scheduled the game for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, marking the Bulldogs’ return to Athens after more than a month.
While Georgia has played three night games this season, all have been away. This time, the Bulldogs will enjoy the atmosphere of a home night game, something head coach Kirby Smart believes adds excitement, though he notes it doesn’t necessarily impact recruiting any differently than a 3:30 p.m. game.
This matchup has all the elements of a high-stakes game, with Georgia ranked No. 2 and holding a 7-1 record, while Tennessee, also 7-1, is ranked No. 7. The last time these two met in Athens, Tennessee was the top-ranked team in the College Football Playoff standings, but Georgia claimed a 27-13 win on their way to a national championship.
Before facing Tennessee, both teams have challenging games lined up. Tennessee will host Mississippi State, while Georgia travels to play No. 16 Ole Miss. The Bulldogs know they have a tough road ahead, with quarterback Carson Beck acknowledging the intensity of back-to-back big games, adding, “That’s why you come to Georgia.”
The Georgia-Ole Miss game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC this week.
