A Woman Seeks to Have Charges Against Georgia’s Colbie Young Dismissed
Earlier this college football season, Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young was suspended indefinitely after being charged with assaulting an unborn child and battery, according to the Athens Clarke-County jail log. Young was booked at 4:18 A.M., with a bond set at $2,500. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported on Wednesday that the woman involved in the case is now requesting that the charges against Young be dropped.
In an affidavit released by Young’s attorney, Kim Stephens, the woman stated that the police report was “biased” and did not accurately reflect the events of October 8. “I did go to Colbie’s apartment late at night to talk to him about our relationship and my pregnancy,” the woman explained. “Colbie asked me to leave multiple times while I was there, but I refused until I became upset with him and felt the conversation was unproductive.”
The woman further clarified, “Colbie did not lay a hand on me in any inappropriate or unwanted manner. He did not hit or push me, nor did he cause any bruising or injuries.”
Young, who transferred from Miami in the offseason, has made an impact on Georgia’s offense this season. In his two years with the Hurricanes, he recorded 930 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. This season, he has accumulated 149 yards on 11 receptions with two touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
