With Early Signing Day less than a month away, Oklahoma has extended an offer to an offensive lineman while awaiting a key decision from a wide receiver, all amid a tough week following a loss to Missouri.
The Sooners’ early signing day on Wednesday, December 4, is shaping up to be the main event in the coming month, as they remain focused on recruiting. After a 30-23 loss to No. 24 Missouri on Saturday in Columbia, Oklahoma stands at 5-5, needing one more win for bowl eligibility with just two games left after a bye week.
Recruiting has been relatively quiet lately, but that could be a positive for the Sooners, considering the team’s struggles this season, including a losing streak and a coaching change at offensive coordinator. While there haven’t been any new commitments recently, the Sooners are managing to hold onto their current pledges.
Recent Offer:
Oklahoma is looking to address its offensive line issues for the future. On Monday, 2026 4-star interior offensive lineman Carter Scruggs announced that he received an offer from the Sooners after visiting Norman during their game against Maine. Scruggs, who plays for Loudon County (VA) High School, is highly ranked by recruiting services, with 247Sports listing him as the sixth-best interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class, while On3 and Rivals also have him in the top 15.
Scruggs, who holds offers from top programs like Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, and others, would be the first offensive line commit for Oklahoma’s 2026 class, which currently has just three total commits. The Sooners’ 2025 class features four-star and five-star offensive linemen such as Michael Fasusi and Ryan Fodje.
Upcoming Decision:
Oklahoma’s 2026 class could add another player soon, as wide receiver Dequane Prevo is set to announce his decision on November 24. Prevo, a 4-star recruit from Liberty-Eylau (TX), is considering four schools: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Penn State, and Texas. Though 247Sports has him as a 3-star prospect, Rivals ranks him as the 15th-best receiver in the 2026 class.
New NCAA Recruiting Rule:
The NCAA recently issued a waiver suspending the limit on the number of official recruiting visits that schools can host, effective immediately and lasting through the current recruiting cycle, which ends on March 31, 2025. Previously, FBS programs were limited to 70 official visits per year. The rule change aims to offer schools more flexibility in light of recent NCAA legislation changes. Recruits are still allowed unlimited unofficial visits, which are self-funded.
