Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed on Monday that rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman will be sidelined for their Week 11 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Coleman, still recovering from a wrist injury sustained in the Bills’ Week 9 win over the Miami Dolphins, will miss this pivotal game as he continues to heal.
The rookie receiver has been a breakout player for Buffalo, leading the team in yards per catch (19) and touchdown receptions (three) while ranking second in total receiving yards with 417 across nine games. Coleman’s big-play ability has made him a critical piece in the Bills’ offensive scheme since they selected him with one of their second-round picks in this year’s draft.
Buffalo already managed without Coleman and Amari Cooper in their recent 30-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts. McDermott shared some positive news, however, as Cooper remains in consideration to play on Sunday. Allen struggled to find the same efficiency without Coleman, throwing a season-high two interceptions and recording his lowest passer rating of the season (60.6) against the Colts. Although Mack Hollins and Khalil Shakir stepped up to help fill the void, Coleman’s absence was evident in the passing game.
While having Coleman back would have added much-needed firepower for Buffalo’s most important matchup of the season, the Bills have managed to outplay Kansas City in the last three regular-season meetings dating back to 2021. With the Chiefs boasting a formidable defense this year, Allen and the Bills’ offense will need to be at their sharpest to secure a win without one of their most dynamic deep threats.
Buffalo and Kansas City will clash at Highmark Stadium this Sunday at 4:25 EST in a game that could have major playoff implications.
