Florida State extends an offer to a talented running back transfer.
The Florida State football team concludes its disappointing season with a 31-11 loss to their arch-rival, the Florida Gators. This outcome continues a pattern of struggles for the team.
What was expected to be a season of celebration after winning the conference and finishing the regular season undefeated in 2023 quickly unraveled following their season-opening defeat to Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland.
Now, the program is left to regroup and reassess. Many fans believe the solution lies in firing assistant coaches and bringing in top-tier players through the transfer portal and recruiting.
As we enter the transfer portal period, players are beginning to announce their intentions to leave. Wide receiver Deuce Spann has already done so, but no others have been confirmed yet.
Despite this, the coaching staff is actively looking for talented players in the portal, and they’ve made an offer to FAU running back CJ Campbell Jr.
Campbell Jr.’s name may sound familiar, as he was once a Seminole as a preferred walk-on before transferring to FAU for more playing time. His decision proved successful, as he made an impact at a smaller school.
In the 2023 season, Campbell Jr. rushed for 844 yards on 165 carries and scored 11 touchdowns. He also caught 40 passes for 466 yards and three touchdowns.
Though it may not happen, bringing Campbell Jr. back could be a valuable addition to the running back room, especially with the potential departure of Lawrance Toafili, Caziah Holmes, and Roydell Williams in 2025.
