Georgia football finds itself in the underdog position once again.
The Bulldogs are gearing up for one of the biggest games of their season, a rematch with No. 2 Texas in the SEC Championship this Saturday. Coming off a dramatic win over in-state rival Georgia Tech, Georgia must quickly shift its focus to a Texas team that’s hungry for revenge.
It’s clear that this game will likely be a close one, and Vegas agrees, with the spread favoring one team by less than a field goal.
Current Georgia vs. Texas Odds As of 6:00 am EST on Monday, Dec. 2, Georgia is a 2.5-point underdog against Texas in this weekend’s SEC Championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The over-under for the game is set at 49.5 points. ESPN’s Football Power Index also gives Georgia just a 38.5% chance of defeating Texas this weekend.
Georgia vs. Texas Prediction This is going to be a tough matchup for Georgia. Since their first meeting earlier this season, Texas has only improved, remaining undefeated in the games that followed. Notably, they secured an impressive 17-7 win over Texas A&M, with their defense dominating. Texas’ defense has been playing at an elite level, and their offense is firing on all cylinders.
However, Georgia has been improving as well, particularly on offense. Quarterback Carson Beck has been playing much better, especially in the past three games without turning the ball over. In their first meeting, Georgia still managed to win despite Beck throwing three interceptions, so if he avoids turnovers again, it could give the Bulldogs a significant advantage.
Despite this, it feels like Georgia’s luck may run out in this game. While the Bulldogs are capable of winning, their SEC Championship history under Kirby Smart has been less than stellar, and Texas seems to be playing at a higher level right now.
Prediction: Texas wins 24-23.
