Florida State running back Lawrance Toafili capped off his Seminole career with a touchdown on his final play, a fitting end for a player who gave everything to the program. Despite Florida State’s loss to the Florida Gators, Toafili’s legacy will be remembered for his dedication and impactful moments throughout his career.
“It’s bittersweet, but I’m grateful,” Toafili said, reflecting on his last touchdown after the game. “I’m just thankful for everything.”
The running back from St. Petersburg, FL, shared his appreciation for his time at Doak Campbell Stadium, where he created countless memories. “Doak has given me so many great times,” he added. “I’m just blessed and grateful for everyone who supported me—coaches, teammates, everyone.”
The game ended with a bench-clearing brawl, highlighting the intensity of the rivalry, and underscoring a difficult 2-10 season for Florida State. However, the fight didn’t overshadow Toafili’s journey. Amid the chaos, he was focused on savoring his final moments on the field. “I was just soaking in my last moment,” Toafili said. “I didn’t even realize what was going on around me.”
Toafili’s career includes a remarkable 2023 ACC Championship MVP award, making him the third player in program history to earn that honor. Over 55 games, he totaled 1,895 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, plus 904 receiving yards and four additional scores. Joining FSU as a 3-star recruit in the turbulent 2020 COVID-19 season, Toafili thrived in a stacked backfield alongside future NFL talent like Trey Benson, helping lead the Seminoles back to prominence in the ACC.
