Two Auburn football standouts, linebacker Eugene Asante and running back Jarquez Hunter, have accepted invitations to play in the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl. The prestigious event, held annually in Mobile, Alabama, provides college seniors with the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of NFL scouts and coaches as they prepare for the next step in their football careers.
The Senior Bowl, known for its slogan, “The Draft Starts in Mobile,” is more than just a game. Players participate in practices led by NFL personnel, team interviews, and other events throughout the week leading up to the American vs. National team matchup. It’s a pivotal moment for draft-eligible athletes looking to make an impression.
Eugene Asante, who transferred to Auburn in 2022 after three seasons at North Carolina, has been a key figure in the Tigers’ defense. After starting his Auburn journey on the scout team, Asante emerged as a defensive leader under head coach Hugh Freeze, recording 134 tackles and 7.5 sacks during his tenure. Reflecting on his time at Auburn, Asante said, “I have immense gratitude for this university and the people who believed in me. I strive to make the Auburn family proud in everything I do.”
Running back Jarquez Hunter also accepted an invitation after an outstanding season in 2024. Hunter rushed for 1,201 yards, the second-highest total in the SEC, and finished his Auburn career as the program’s fourth all-time leading rusher with 3,371 yards and seven touchdowns. His consistent performances have made him a top NFL prospect.
Despite a challenging 5-7 season for Auburn, Asante and Hunter’s selection to the Senior Bowl highlights the talent and resilience within the program. Their journey to Mobile represents a significant step toward fulfilling their NFL dreams while proudly representing Auburn football.
