The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (10-2) will face the No. 2 Texas Longhorns in the 2024 SEC Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4:00 p.m. ET. The game will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, and will be broadcast on ABC.
Georgia comes into the game after a thrilling eight-overtime victory against Georgia Tech on Friday night. Meanwhile, Texas secured a 17-7 win over Texas A&M on Saturday, giving Georgia a slight rest advantage heading into the championship.
Texas is aiming to capture its first SEC title in its inaugural season in the conference, while Georgia is making its fourth consecutive appearance in the SEC Championship. The Bulldogs last won the SEC title in 2022.
The broadcast team for the game will feature Chris Fowler as the play-by-play announcer, Kirk Herbstreit as the analyst, and Laura Rutledge and Holly Rowe as sideline reporters.
Texas leads the all-time series 4-2, although Georgia defeated the Longhorns 30-15 in Austin earlier this season. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has a 1-1 record against Texas in his coaching career.
Smart had high praise for Texas, saying, “Their defense is one of the best in the country. They’ve got explosive skill players. They’ve done a tremendous job in the portal. Their quarterback is playing at a high level, and they’ve replaced a big group of backs. The backs they have now are doing a great job. Overall, this should be an exciting, challenging SEC championship.”
