Kentucky’s thrilling victory over Gonzaga on Saturday came with a tough blow as senior point guard Kerr Kriisa suffered a foot injury late in the second half, forcing him to leave the game. Afterward, Kriisa was seen in the locker room in considerable pain.
UK has now confirmed that Kriisa will be sidelined indefinitely to undergo foot surgery. While the injury isn’t expected to end his season, the timeline for his return remains unclear. Kriisa has played in all nine games this season, contributing an average of 4.4 points and 3.8 assists per game. He also made his first start of the season in the Wildcats’ dramatic win over Gonzaga, scoring a season-high eight points and surpassing 1,000 career points.
According to Jeff Goodman from Stadium, the injury could keep Kriisa out for 3 to 6 weeks, which raises hopes that he could return in time for the early SEC schedule, starting with a home game against 13th-ranked Florida on January 4th.
Fingers crossed for a quick recovery!
