The Auburn Tigers bounced back to their dominant form on Sunday with a commanding 98-54 victory over Richmond at Neville Arena. Ranked No. 2 under coach Bruce Pearl, the Tigers quickly regained momentum after a minor setback earlier in the week.
Auburn took control early, jumping to a 25-10 lead fueled by freshman Tahaad Pettiford and senior Denver Jones’ sharp 3-point shooting. By halftime, they had extended their lead to 52-27. The Tigers maintained their dominance throughout the second half, often leading by 40 points.
The win showcased Auburn’s balanced attack, with six players scoring at least 11 points and eight contributing assists. Pettiford and Miles Kelly led the team with 15 points each, highlighting the Tigers’ depth and efficiency.
Although they fell just short of the 100-point mark, this game marked the fourth time this season Auburn scored at least 90 points. Three of these high-scoring games occurred at Neville Arena, with the fourth in the Maui Invitational Championship against Memphis.
With this victory, Auburn improves its record and builds momentum ahead of a week-long break. They’ll next face Ohio State in Atlanta on Saturday, aiming for another significant ‘Quad 1’ win.
