Brock Bowers has made his mark in the NFL during an incredible rookie season, etching his name in the record books.
Georgia football is known for producing successful NFL talent, and this year, one rookie has stood out above the rest—tight end Brock Bowers. After a standout career at Georgia, Bowers was selected 13th overall by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2024 NFL Draft. His impressive performance in his first season hasn’t been surprising, but what is unexpected is that he has already set an NFL record.
Most Receptions by a Rookie Tight End in NFL History
Bowers has recorded 87 receptions, 933 yards, and four touchdowns so far this season. His 87 receptions are particularly notable, as they now stand as the most by any rookie tight end in NFL history. With four more games left in the Raiders’ season, Bowers has the opportunity to increase his record even further.
While the Raiders won’t make the playoffs, Bowers has the chance to extend his lead over second-place Sam LaPorta and secure a record that could remain unbeaten for many years.
Bowers is also closing in on the all-time rookie reception record held by Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, who set the mark at 106 receptions in 2023. Bowers needs just 18 more receptions—about 4.5 per game—to tie that record, which is well within reach.
Regardless of whether Bowers breaks the overall rookie reception record, he has already established himself as one of the NFL’s brightest young tight ends. With a few more seasons, he could rise to the level of elite tight ends like Travis Kelce.
