When 2025 DeForest (Wis.) tight end Jackson Accuardi committed to West Virginia in late April, he was confident in his decision. However, the announcement that head coach Neal Brown would be let go at the end of the season initially made him reconsider. Despite this uncertainty, Accuardi, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound three-star prospect, soon reaffirmed his commitment to the Mountaineers.
Though he acknowledged his gratitude for Coach Brown and the role he played in his recruitment, Accuardi ultimately chose West Virginia because of the school itself, not just the coaching staff. He expressed trust in athletic director Wren Baker’s leadership and believes in the program’s future. “I decided to stay committed and sign because I trust Wren (Baker) and whatever decision he makes,” Accuardi shared. “I know that us 2025 commits will be a part of something very special.”
As a senior, Accuardi was a first-team all-state selection, recording 23 catches for 296 yards and 7 touchdowns in just seven games. He plans to enroll in Morgantown in January, joining several other 2025 recruits who share his commitment to the program’s turnaround. “Get to say that we were the turning stone in that process,” Accuardi said.
