Koby Brea snapped out of his recent shooting slump in a big way, leading Kentucky to a 78-67 victory over Colgate on Wednesday. Making his first career start in Lexington, Brea poured in 17 points, showcasing his exceptional shooting touch. He was flawless in the first half, hitting all four of his three-point attempts, and added one more in the second half to finish 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. His performance pushed his season three-point shooting percentage to 56.1%, ranking him second nationally.
Despite the Wildcats’ collective struggles from deep in the first half—aside from Brea—Kentucky found their rhythm after the break. While Brea was the standout, a key 12-0 run helped seal the win. Jaxson Robinson, Trent Noah, and Otega Oweh each knocked down a three-pointer during the run, turning a narrow 47-46 deficit into a 58-47 lead. Kentucky finished the game with 10 three-pointers on 31 attempts, good for a 32.3% clip.
As a team, the Wildcats’ shooting improved after the break, with Brea leading the charge. Kentucky’s performance is a promising sign as they continue to rely on their outside shooting to open up the floor and stretch defenses. With a strong perimeter game and a solid all-around effort, the Wildcats will look to build on this performance as they prepare for their next challenge.
