It’s been a while since Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have been part of an ESPN “College GameDay” broadcast, and unfortunately, that streak will continue for at least one more round.
On Wednesday, “GameDay” revealed the locations for the first round of the College Football Playoffs. The crew, including Nick Saban, Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, and Pat McAfee, will be in South Bend, Indiana, on Friday, Dec. 20, for the game between No. 10 seed Indiana Hoosiers (11-1) and No. 7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-1) at Notre Dame Stadium.
The following Saturday, “GameDay” will be in Columbus for the first-round matchup between No. 9 seed Tennessee Volunteers and No. 8 seed Ohio State Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium. The Tennessee-Ohio State game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC and ESPN.
Meanwhile, Clemson (10-3), the No. 12 seed, will face No. 5 seed Texas (11-2) at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin at 4 p.m. ET. Although the Clemson-Texas game will be aired on TNT, ESPN announcers will still call the game due to a five-year deal that sublicenses select CFP games to TNT Sports, starting in 2024.
