The Alabama Crimson Tide face a more challenging road ahead in 2025 despite their 2024 schedule already posing significant tests. While not the toughest in the SEC, the 2025 slate is packed with hurdles that could prove even more demanding.
Released on Wednesday, the 2025 SEC football schedule reveals a reverse of the 2024 matchups, with Alabama playing its prior opponents but on opposite grounds. Notably, the Crimson Tide will travel to Athens, GA, Columbia, MO, Columbia, SC, and Auburn. They will also face Florida State in Tallahassee to kick off the season, a game that could be challenging if FSU rebounds from its disappointing 2-10 record in 2024.
Road games like the Iron Bowl in Jordan-Hare Stadium have historically been unpredictable for Alabama. Additionally, four SEC teams—Missouri, Oklahoma, Georgia, and LSU—will benefit from bye weeks before playing the Crimson Tide. Alabama’s bye weeks, scheduled ahead of the Georgia and LSU games, offer some relief but not enough to negate the demanding schedule.
In 2024, Alabama’s schedule ranked 18th toughest nationally, with 10 SEC teams facing harder slates, according to ESPN’s FPI. The 2025 schedule, however, could push the Crimson Tide further. Analysts on the SEC Network highlighted Florida, Oklahoma, and Mississippi State as having the most grueling schedules in 2025, with Florida’s termed “brutal” by Paul Finebaum due to road games against LSU, Miami, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Texas A&M, plus a home clash with Texas.
2025 Alabama Football Schedule Highlights:
- Aug. 30: at Florida State
- Sept. 27: at Georgia
- Nov. 8: LSU in Tuscaloosa
- Nov. 15: Oklahoma in Tuscaloosa
- Nov. 29: at Auburn
With tough road environments and strong opponents, the 2025 season is set to test Alabama’s grit and determination.
