The Kentucky Wildcats have secured another addition to their football roster, with tight end Henry Boyer committing to the program on December 19, 2024. Boyer, a former Illinois Fighting Illini player, made the announcement on Twitter, revealing that he would be joining the Wildcats as a redshirt junior for the 2025 college football season. Boyer, standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 270 pounds, has two years of eligibility remaining.
Originally recruited as a 3-star prospect in the class of 2022, Boyer’s college career at Illinois saw limited playing time. Known primarily as a blocking tight end, he caught just three passes during his time with the Illini, all of which came in the 2023 season. Despite having a solid physical frame, Boyer’s opportunities on the field were limited, and he finished the 2024 season with a 50.3 Pro Football Focus grade.
In his first six games of the season, Boyer logged double-digit snaps in five contests, but his role diminished over the course of the year, with fewer opportunities in the final five games. Nonetheless, his decision to transfer to Kentucky provides valuable depth at the tight end position for the Wildcats.
Kentucky’s tight end corps currently features returning players Josh Kattus and Willie Rodriguez, as well as incoming freshman Mikkel Skinner. Boyer’s addition to the roster serves as a depth piece for the Wildcats, strengthening an already talented group.
Boyer’s commitment is the latest in a series of moves for Kentucky football, with the program continuing to build for the future. With two seasons of eligibility left, Boyer will have a chance to contribute significantly to the Wildcats’ offensive game plan.
