The Auburn Tigers’ secondary is facing another shake-up as senior cornerback Keionte Scott has entered the transfer portal for his final season of eligibility. Scott’s departure is the latest in a series of changes within the Tigers’ defensive backfield, as he becomes the fifth Auburn defensive back to enter the portal this offseason.
Scott, a 6-foot-2, 192-pound cornerback, played three seasons for Auburn after transferring from Snow College in Utah ahead of the 2022 season. During his time with the Tigers, Scott started 23 of the 33 games he played in, recording 115 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, 10 pass deflections, and one interception. His playmaking ability and physicality in the secondary helped anchor Auburn’s defense throughout his tenure.
As a four-star recruit in the 2022 class, Scott was regarded as one of the top JUCO cornerbacks in the nation. He had several offers, including from major programs such as Arizona, BYU, Oregon, and Tennessee, ultimately choosing Auburn for his college career. Despite his contributions, Scott’s decision to transfer leaves a hole in a defense that has already seen significant turnover, including the departures of starting safety Caleb Wooden and cornerback Antonio Kite.
Auburn’s coaching staff is now tasked with filling the void left by Scott, but they have made strides to bolster their cornerback depth. The Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class includes high-ranked cornerbacks Donovan Starr and Blake Woodby, along with three-star recruit Devin Williams. Additionally, Auburn’s transfer portal class remains strong, ranked No. 4 nationally, with an eye on building a defense capable of competing at the highest level in the SEC.
The Tigers will have to quickly adjust to Scott’s absence as they prepare for another competitive season in 2025.
