The Georgia Bulldogs are celebrating a huge step toward March Madness after a dominant 83-67 road victory over the Texas Longhorns. The win not only marked a pivotal moment for Georgia’s postseason hopes but also shifted the landscape of the NCAA Tournament bubble.
Heading into the game, ESPN’s bracketology had Georgia as the first team out of the tournament and Texas as the last team in. However, thanks to standout performances—most notably from guard Silas Demary Jr., who scored a game-high 26 points—Joe Lunardi’s updated projections now place Georgia among the final four teams to make the NCAA Tournament.
“Confidence spreads, it just does,” said Georgia head coach Mike White after the game. “We’re doing a little bit more off the ball than we were. But for the most part, these guys have collectively bought into making simple plays—hitting singles, passing it better, holding seals better, and doing all the little things that lead to valuing the basketball at a higher rate.”
The Bulldogs (18-11, 6-10 SEC) are riding a crucial two-game winning streak after previously upsetting No. 5 Florida. However, their work is far from done. With two games left in the regular season, Georgia must win both to solidify their NCAA Tournament bid and avoid being one of the last four at-large teams, which would mean playing in the tournament’s First Four round.
Their remaining schedule is favorable but not without challenges. Up first, the Bulldogs travel to face South Carolina (12-18, 2-14 SEC) on March 4. The Gamecocks sit at the bottom of the SEC standings, making this a must-win for Georgia. They’ll then return home to take on Vanderbilt on March 8. The Commodores, while unranked, are among the hottest teams in the conference and will pose a significant test for the Bulldogs.
Georgia’s postseason fate hangs in the balance, but their recent surge has inspired hope among fans and players alike. With a renewed sense of confidence and momentum, the Bulldogs are proving they belong in March Madness. A strong finish to the regular season could be the final piece of the puzzle, securing Georgia’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015.
Stay tuned as the Bulldogs aim to dance their way into March Madness and make a statement on the national stage!
