Florida men’s basketball assistant coach John Andrzejek has been named the new head coach at Campbell University, as announced by the school on Thursday. Known for his defensive expertise, Andrzejek brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to his new role with the Fighting Camels.
Hailing from Hamilton, N.Y., Andrzejek has been instrumental in transforming Florida’s defense during his two seasons with the Gators. This season, under his direction, the Gators achieved significant defensive milestones, climbing to ninth nationally in defensive efficiency, sixth in effective field goal percentage, and eighth in 3-point field goal percentage.
Florida head coach Todd Golden credited Andrzejek’s intensity and strategic focus as vital to the team’s success. “John Andrzejek deserves a lot of credit for our defense,” Golden remarked after Florida secured the SEC Tournament championship. “His intensity and dedication to defensive preparation have elevated our team’s performance to another level.”
Andrzejek’s coaching journey reflects his deep commitment to excellence. His career includes assistant coaching stints at Washington State, Dartmouth, and Johns Hopkins, along with operational roles at San Francisco and Columbia.
