Kansas transfer power forward Zach Clemence has committed to Texas A&M, bolstering the Aggies’ roster for the upcoming season. Clemence, who played four seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks, announced his decision via Instagram on Sunday. He spent most of the 2023-24 season redshirting, appearing in just eight games and averaging 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-11 forward was a four-star recruit out of Sunrise Christian Academy (KS), where he ranked as the No. 66 overall player and No. 16 power forward in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Despite his impressive high school ranking, Clemence struggled for significant playing time at Kansas. His career averages at the school are 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds, with his highest playing time coming during his freshman year, where he contributed to Kansas’ national championship team.
Clemence’s commitment to Texas A&M comes at a pivotal time for the Aggies, who are retooling after losing coach Buzz Williams in the offseason. Texas A&M made a second-round appearance in the 2024 NCAA Tournament but will look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season. Clemence becomes the second transfer addition for the Aggies this offseason, following point guard Jacari Lane.
Despite his modest production at Kansas, Clemence’s size, talent, and pedigree as a high-level recruit make him a promising addition for Texas A&M. As a transfer, he is ranked No. 373 overall and No. 84 among power forwards in the On3 Industry Rankings.
The Aggies are hoping Clemence can contribute in a more substantial role, adding depth and potential to the frontcourt as they aim for another NCAA Tournament run in the 2025-26 season. With the transfer portal shaping college basketball more than ever, Texas A&M will be looking to make a splash with their revamped roster and new leadership.
