Florida State’s football program has added another standout to its roster with the signing of Jeremiah Wilson, a defensive back transferring from Houston. Head coach Mike Norvell confirmed the news on Saturday morning, expressing excitement over Wilson’s addition to the team.
Wilson, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound athlete from Kissimmee, Florida, has long considered FSU his dream school. His commitment came on Friday at the conclusion of a multi-day visit to Tallahassee.
“I’m fired up to have Jeremiah joining our Nole Family,” Norvell said in an official statement. “He is an experienced playmaker coming back to his home state and will be a valuable addition to our program. Jeremiah is an instinctive athlete who plays with passion and a relentless approach to his growth on and off the field. I’m excited about what is ahead for him here at Florida State.”
Wilson brings a wealth of experience to the Seminoles’ defense. Over three seasons, he has played in 34 games, starting in 13 of them. His collegiate career began at Syracuse, where he was recruited by Tony White, now FSU’s defensive coordinator. After two seasons with the Orange, Wilson transferred to Houston, where he continued to make an impact on the field.
In his 2024 campaign at Houston, Wilson started the final eight games of the season, finishing with 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, and four pass breakups. His four interceptions ranked third in the Big 12, showcasing his ability to disrupt opposing offenses. Pro Football Focus graded him at an impressive 86.9, placing him fourth among all Power 4 cornerbacks.
Wilson’s versatility and instincts make him a perfect fit for Florida State’s defense, which is set to benefit from his proven playmaking ability and experience. Returning to his home state also gives Wilson an opportunity to play in front of family and friends while contributing to a program he has admired for years.
The addition of Wilson bolsters FSU’s secondary, addressing a key need as the Seminoles aim for success in the 2025 season. With his commitment, Florida State continues to strengthen its roster through the transfer portal, signaling high expectations for the upcoming campaign.
The Seminole community eagerly anticipates the impact Wilson will bring to the field as he officially joins the “Nole Family.”
