Tennessee Basketball has added French guard Clarence Massamba to its 2025 recruiting class. Massamba, a 6-foot-5 prospect from AS Monaco Basket, committed to the Vols after playing for Espies Monaco, AS Monaco’s U21 team. During the 2024-25 international season, he averaged 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, shooting 44.6% from the field and 34.1% from three-point range.
Massamba’s commitment adds to a strong 2025 class, which already includes five-star Nate Ament, four-star guard Amari Evans, four-star center Dewayne Brown, and three-star point guard Troy Henderson. Ament, the highest-ranked recruit in Tennessee’s history, chose the Vols over schools like Duke, Kentucky, and Arkansas. Evans, from Pittsburgh, is ranked No. 68 nationally, while Brown, ranked No. 100, is considered the top prospect in Alabama.
Tennessee has also bolstered its roster through the NCAA Transfer Portal with the additions of Louisiana Tech guard Amaree Abram, Maryland point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie, and Vanderbilt forward Jaylen Carey. Abram, a former top-100 prospect, averaged 12.3 points and 4.4 rebounds at Louisiana Tech. Gillespie started all 36 games for Maryland, contributing 14.7 points and 4.8 assists per game. Carey, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 8 points and 5.7 rebounds for Vanderbilt.
The Vols still have two open roster spots for the 2025-26 season after losing six seniors, including key players like Zakai Zeigler and Jordan Gainey. Tennessee’s additions from both high school and the transfer portal reflect a continued commitment to strengthening the team for the upcoming season.
