Netflix has officially announced the release date for an emotional and inspiring new documentary that pays tribute to one of college football’s most revered figures — the late Bobby Bowden. Titled Bowden: A Legacy of Faith and Football, the film is scheduled to premiere on July 15, 2025, and promises to offer fans and followers a heartfelt look into the life, career, and enduring impact of the legendary Florida State Seminoles head coach.

Bobby Bowden, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 91, is remembered not just for his extraordinary achievements on the football field, but also for his unwavering faith, charismatic leadership, and deep love for his players. Over a storied career spanning 34 seasons at Florida State University (FSU), Bowden amassed 304 wins, two national championships, and 12 ACC titles. More importantly, he transformed the Seminoles into a perennial powerhouse and cultivated a culture of excellence, integrity, and character that resonated far beyond the gridiron.

The Netflix documentary aims to go beyond the statistics and trophies to showcase the man behind the legend. Through never-before-seen footage, intimate interviews with family members, former players, assistant coaches, and close friends, Bowden: A Legacy of Faith and Football will delve into the moments that defined his journey. Viewers will hear personal anecdotes from NFL stars like Deion Sanders and Charlie Ward, and witness the genuine emotional connections Bowden formed with his team.

According to the filmmakers, the documentary was made in close collaboration with the Bowden family and Florida State University. “This project was born out of a desire to honor Coach Bowden not just as a coach, but as a father figure, mentor, and man of deep conviction,” said executive producer Allison Grant. “It’s a tribute to his legacy that extends far beyond football — to the lives he touched and the values he instilled.”

The film will also explore the challenges Bowden faced during his career, including intense public scrutiny, competitive rivalries, and the balancing act between personal faith and professional demands. His steadfast belief in doing things “the right way” remained a guiding principle throughout his life, making him a beloved figure across generations of fans.

With its mix of sports history, personal reflection, and emotional storytelling, the documentary is poised to become a must-watch for sports enthusiasts, alumni, and anyone inspired by the power of leadership and legacy. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be a moving celebration of one of football’s most iconic figures.
