Nebraska softball sensation Jordy Bahl has etched her name into NCAA history, becoming the first player to achieve over 20 home runs and 20 pitching wins in a single season. This remarkable feat was accomplished during the 2025 NCAA Tournament, where Bahl’s exceptional two-way performance has drawn comparisons to MLB’s Shohei Ohtani.
In a standout Super Regional game against Tennessee, Bahl pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs on seven hits while striking out six batters. Offensively, she contributed with a hit, a walk, and scored two runs, leading Nebraska to a 5-2 victory. This win brought the Huskers within one game of their first Women’s College World Series appearance since 2013.
Throughout the season, Bahl has dominated both at the plate and in the circle. She boasts a .475 batting average, ranks tied for seventh nationally with 23 home runs, and has a 1.50 ERA with a 26-6 pitching record. Notably, she’s the only player in the country to rank in the top ten across these four categories.
Her postseason performance has been equally impressive. In the NCAA Regionals, Bahl hit four home runs in her first four at-bats across three games, showcasing her offensive prowess.
Bahl’s exceptional season has earned her both the Big Ten Player and Pitcher of the Year honors, making her the first player in conference history to receive both awards in the same season. She is also a finalist for the 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.
A Nebraska native, Bahl transferred from Oklahoma, where she was a two-time Women’s College World Series champion and the 2023 Most Outstanding Player. Her decision to return home has revitalized the Huskers’ program, drawing record crowds and inspiring a new generation of softball fans in the state.
As Nebraska continues its postseason journey, Bahl’s historic achievements have not only propelled her team forward but have also set a new standard for excellence in collegiate softball.
