TALLAHASSEE, FL — It’s not every day you turn 19 and still get compared to seasoned veterans, but for Florida State freshman guard Daquan Davis, that’s just another day at the office—and today, it happens to be his birthday too.

Born on May 29, 2006, Davis is celebrating his 19th birthday with a growing buzz around his name in Seminole basketball circles. While most college freshmen are still adjusting to life away from home, Davis has already made a name for himself as a tenacious defender, a high-IQ playmaker, and one of the most promising young guards in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Standing at 6’1” and weighing in at 170 pounds, Davis might not be the biggest guy on the court, but his impact is anything but small. Known for his quick hands, court vision, and fierce energy, he’s the kind of player that gets under opponents’ skin—and into highlight reels.

Former head coach Leonard Hamilton, who recently passed the torch to NBA champ-turned-head-coach Luke Loucks, praised Davis earlier in the season: “Daquan’s got that old-school grit with a new-school edge. He’s a sponge—he absorbs everything. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the leader of this team in the next year or two.”

Teammates have also taken to calling him “Mini Mann,” a playful nod to FSU alum and NBA player Terance Mann, who coincidentally returned to the program this season as Assistant General Manager. Mann and Davis have already developed a strong bond, with Mann mentoring the young guard both on and off the court.

To celebrate his big day, Davis reportedly kept things simple—just a gym session, some Chick-fil-A with teammates, and a few laughs. “Basketball is the party,” Davis said with a grin. “I’ll celebrate when we hang a banner.”

As FSU gears up for summer training under Coach Loucks’ new leadership, Davis’s development is one of the most anticipated stories to watch. With his skill set, mindset, and now the added weight of birthday wisdom, Daquan Davis might just be the secret weapon Florida State didn’t know it needed—until now.

Happy Birthday, Daquan—keep ballin’ and don’t forget the cake (just go easy on the frosting before practice). 🎂🏀
