Florida State Universityโs head softball coach Lonni Alameda has been honored as the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Coach of the Year, marking her seventh time receiving this prestigious award. This accolade comes as a testament to her exceptional leadership and the Seminoles’ outstanding performance throughout the season.
Under Alameda’s guidance, the Seminoles clinched their eighth ACC Regular Season Championship in 11 years, concluding the regular season with an impressive 44-8 overall record and an 18-3 mark in conference play. The team’s consistent presence in the top 10 of the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll underscores their dominance on the field.
Alameda’s career at Florida State has been marked by sustained excellence. Since taking the helm in 2009, she has amassed an 806-222-2 record (.783), leading the Seminoles to nine ACC Tournament Championships, seven ACC Regular Season Championships, and 15 NCAA Tournament appearances. Her tenure includes five Women’s College World Series appearances, highlighted by a national championship in 2018 and runner-up finishes in 2021 and 2023.ย
Beyond her coaching achievements, Alameda’s impact is deeply felt by her players. Former Seminole Meghan King praised her, stating, “It’s the culture that she creates is just absolutely incredible… She really tries to embody lessons that you can take to your professional career and on and off the field.”
Alameda’s influence extends beyond the collegiate level. She has contributed to international softball, serving as the pitching coach for Team Canada during the 2008 Beijing and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Her dedication to the sport was further recognized with her induction into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Hall of Fame in 2023.ย
The 2025 season also saw individual accolades for Seminole players, with Isa Torres and Kennedy Harp earning NFCA First and Second Team All-American honors, respectively. Their performances were instrumental in the team’s record-breaking offensive season.ย
