The Florida Gators men’s basketball program continues to build its national championship aspirations with a marquee addition from the transfer portal. Former Arkansas Razorbacks guard Boogie Fland announced his commitment to the Gators on Tuesday, marking a significant win for head coach Todd Golden and his staff.
A Proven Playmaker Joins the Fold
Boogie Fland, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard, enters Florida as one of the most highly coveted players in the 2025 transfer portal. Ranked as a five-star transfer and the top combo guard available, Fland brings an elite combination of scoring and playmaking. During his freshman season at Arkansas, he averaged 13.5 points and 5.1 assists per game, leading the Razorbacks in assists and finishing as their second-leading scorer.
Despite missing 18 games due to a thumb injury that required surgery, Fland returned to play a pivotal role in Arkansas’ NCAA Tournament run. The Razorbacks defeated No. 2-seed St. John’s and No. 7-seed Kansas before bowing out in the Sweet Sixteen.
Filling a Void in the Backcourt
Florida’s backcourt faced a significant overhaul this offseason, with Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard all declaring for the NBA Draft. The addition of Fland addresses this need in a big way. Known for his ability to control the game tempo, make clutch plays, and lead offensively, Fland will be expected to step in and make an immediate impact.
Earlier this offseason, the Gators also secured the commitment of Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee, a two-time First-Team All-Ivy League selection. Together, Fland and Lee form a dynamic guard duo poised to lead Florida in the upcoming season.
