To all the incredible fathers, grandfathers, father-figures, mentors, and role models out there—Happy Father’s Day from the heart of Tuscaloosa and the home of champions.
Today, I want to take a moment, not as a coach, but as a man who understands the lifelong impact that a strong, present, and loving father can have on a young life. Whether you’re a dad in the stands cheering for your son under the Friday night lights, a stepdad showing up every day with love and consistency, or a mentor guiding a young person who just needs someone to believe in them—you are doing something powerful.
At Alabama, we talk a lot about legacy. But legacies don’t start on the field—they start at home. They’re built through time spent, lessons taught, values shared, and the example you set day in and day out. You are often your child’s first coach, biggest fan, and lifelong anchor.
Many of the young men who wear the crimson and white are here because of the foundation laid by fathers like you—men who taught them discipline, toughness, integrity, and how to bounce back after a setback. You shape their character long before they ever step on the gridiron.
And let me say this: we see you. We appreciate you. You may not wear the jersey or stand under the lights, but your fingerprints are on every success they achieve.
Today, I challenge all our players and fans to call your father or the father figure in your life. Thank them. Share a memory. Let them know they’re loved. And for those who are fathers themselves—keep showing up. Keep leading with strength and compassion. Your role matters more than you’ll ever know.
On behalf of myself, our coaching staff, and every player in this proud program—Happy Father’s Day. Whether you’re at the BBQ, watching film with your kids, or just soaking in a quiet moment, know that you are appreciated, celebrated, and respected.
Roll Tide.
Sincerely,
Coach Kalen DeBoer
