In a major recruiting win for Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia, five-star quarterback phenom Darian โDJโ Reynolds, the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class, has officially committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, stunning fans and analysts who had predicted his path to Tennessee or BYU.
Reynolds, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound dual-threat quarterback out of Allen High School in Texas, made the announcement live on ESPNโs โCollege Football Nowโ in front of a packed gymnasium filled with family, teammates, and local fans. Wearing a black suit and a red tie, Reynolds unzipped his jacket to reveal a Georgia Bulldogs t-shirt beneath, sending the crowd into a frenzy and social media into overdrive.
โThis has been the toughest decision of my life,โ Reynolds said. โIโve built strong relationships with the coaches at Tennessee, BYU, and Auburn. But in the end, Georgia felt like home. The culture, the competition, the commitment to excellenceโitโs everything I was looking for.โ
Reynolds had taken official visits to all four schools this spring. Tennessee, long believed to be the frontrunner, pitched him on the chance to start early and help lead a resurgence in Knoxville. BYU offered a unique mix of faith, development, and a high-powered offense tailored to his skillset, while Auburnโs pitch centered around immediate playing time and building a program around him.
But it was Georgiaโs championship pedigree, NFL pipeline, and quarterback development under offensive coordinator Mike Bobo that ultimately sealed the deal. Reynolds becomes the crown jewel of what is already shaping up to be a top-three recruiting class for Georgia.
Kirby Smart responded quickly to the commitment on social media, tweeting:
โWelcome to the Dawg Family, DJ! Letโs work. #GoDawgs #CommitToTheGโ
Reynolds threw for 3,650 yards and 42 touchdowns last season, while adding another 750 yards and 11 scores on the ground. Widely praised for his poise, accuracy, and football IQ, analysts are already comparing him to former Georgia greats and projecting him as a future Heisman contender.
With Reynolds in the fold, Georgia continues to assert itself as the dominant force in college football recruiting. For Bulldogs fans, the future at quarterback just got very, very bright.
