The Kentucky Wildcats have officially welcomed a new addition to their coaching staff for the 2025–26 college basketball season, as Jaylan Green has been named a Graduate Assistant. A player once known for his on-court leadership and tenacity, Green is now transitioning into a new role — this time from the sidelines — as he begins his coaching journey in one of the most storied basketball programs in the nation.

Green’s appointment is particularly special for fans in Lexington and across Big Blue Nation (#BBN), as he is no stranger to the region. He previously played at Transylvania University, located right in the heart of Lexington, before completing his collegiate playing career at Ohio Dominican University. His return to Kentucky brings a sense of homecoming, as he steps into a mentoring role with the Wildcats, combining his familiarity with the culture of Kentucky basketball and a deep understanding of the game.

Known for his work ethic, discipline, and basketball IQ, Green left a strong impression during his playing days. At Transylvania, he was praised not just for his athleticism, but also for his leadership both on and off the court. At Ohio Dominican, he continued to elevate his game, showing a deep commitment to team success and personal growth. Those same qualities are expected to translate seamlessly into his new position as a Graduate Assistant.

The role of a Graduate Assistant is a pivotal one in college basketball. Green will support the coaching staff with player development, game preparation, scouting, and administrative tasks while also pursuing his graduate studies. For young players on the team, having someone like Green — who has walked in their shoes recently — can be invaluable for guidance and connection.

Head Coach and staff expressed excitement about Green’s addition to the program, noting his character, passion for the game, and potential to grow into a future coaching role.

As the Wildcats prepare for the 2025–26 season, the presence of Jaylan Green promises to bring not only energy and enthusiasm to the bench but also a fresh perspective grounded in recent experience. It’s a full-circle moment for Green — from player to mentor — and one that the BBN community is eager to witness unfold.
