The Texas Longhorns have once again solidified their place as a dominant force in collegiate athletics, earning the prestigious NACDA Directors’ Cup for the fourth time in the past five years. This award, presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), recognizes the nation’s top overall athletic department based on performance across multiple sports.

    A Testament to Excellence

Under the leadership of Athletic Director Chris Del Conte, the Longhorns have set an unparalleled standard for success in the NCAA. With championship-level performances across men’s and women’s sports, Texas has demonstrated consistent excellence in a wide range of disciplines, from football and basketball to swimming, track and field, and beyond.

“This achievement is a testament to the incredible dedication, talent, and hard work of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff,” said Del Conte. “It reflects the unity and determination that define the Longhorn spirit. We’re proud to bring this honor back to Austin and share it with our loyal fans.”

    Stellar Performances

The 2024-25 season saw Texas excel on multiple fronts. Highlights included:

    • Football: A strong season under head coach Steve Sarkisian, capped by a New Year’s Six bowl victory.
    • Swimming and Diving: Dominance in the pool continued as both men’s and women’s teams secured national titles.
    • Track and Field: Multiple podium finishes and standout performances at the NCAA championships.
    • Baseball and Softball: Deep runs in postseason tournaments showcased the depth of Texas’s athletic talent.

    Building a Legacy

The Longhorns’ achievement marks a continuation of a legacy built on a strong foundation of resources, recruiting, and commitment to student-athlete development. Del Conte has been instrumental in this success, implementing strategic initiatives that have elevated Texas’s athletic programs to new heights.

“Our mission is to empower our student-athletes to excel both on and off the field,” said Del Conte. “Winning the Directors’ Cup is a reflection of their relentless pursuit of excellence and the unwavering support of the Texas community.”

    Looking Ahead

As Texas prepares to enter the 2025-26 season, the Longhorns aim to maintain their dominant presence in collegiate sports. With robust recruiting classes and a continued emphasis on excellence, they remain a formidable force in the NCAA landscape.

The Directors’ Cup win is not just a victory for Texas—it’s a celebration of the Longhorn legacy and a reaffirmation of their place at the pinnacle of collegiate athletics. Hook ’em Horns! 🤘🏽
