Head Coach Josh Heupel announced the news Friday morning: Dobbs is rejoining the Tennessee football family as a Special Assistant Coach, marking a full-circle moment for one of the most beloved players in recent program history.
Dubbed “Rocket Man” during his playing days for his brilliance on the field and in the classroom (Dobbs famously majored in aerospace engineering), the dual-threat quarterback became a fan favorite not just for his electrifying plays, but for his poise, leadership, and relentless work ethic. Now, after carving out a journeyman career in the NFL—most recently making headlines for a heroic midseason performance with the Minnesota Vikings—Dobbs is coming home.
