EAST LANSING, MI — As homes fill with the aromas of tradition, laughter echoes from living rooms, and communities across the country come together in celebration, Michigan State University extends its warmest wishes for a joyful, safe, and meaningful Thanksgiving to all members of the Spartan family.
Thanksgiving is more than a holiday — it’s a moment to reflect, reconnect, and recognize the blessings that bind us. At Michigan State, those blessings take many forms: from the pursuit of knowledge and athletic achievement to the lifelong friendships, traditions, and shared pride that unite Spartans around the world.
A Message of Gratitude from MSU Leadership
MSU President Teresa Woodruff shared a heartfelt Thanksgiving message to the entire university community:
“On this day of thanks, I am deeply grateful for every member of our Spartan family — students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and supporters. Your resilience, compassion, and spirit define who we are. Today, may your tables be full, your hearts be light, and your memories rich with love and unity.”
Spartan Athletics Gives Back
This Thanksgiving, several MSU athletic teams, including football, basketball, and volleyball, have participated in local outreach programs, distributing hot meals and care packages to shelters, food pantries, and underserved families throughout the Lansing area. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) also partnered with local charities for the annual “Spartan Harvest Drive,” which raised thousands of pounds of food and essentials.
Football Head Coach Jonathan Smith praised his players’ commitment to community:
“They represent the green and white with pride — not just on game day, but every day. This is what being a Spartan is all about.”
Celebrations Across Campus and Beyond
While many students are home with family, the MSU campus remains a hub of warmth and inclusion. Special Thanksgiving meals were served at residence halls, international student lounges, and East Lansing community centers to ensure every Spartan had a seat at the table.
Across the globe, alumni clubs and Spartan chapters hosted their own gatherings — from New York to Tokyo — proving that no matter the distance, Spartan Nation remains tightly knit.
Together in Thanks
As the leaves fall and the year draws to a close, today is a day for gratitude — for all we’ve accomplished and all we continue to build together.
Happy Thanksgiving, Spartan Nation. May your day be filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of the green and white. 🍁🦃💚
