KNOXVILLE, TN — July 3, 2025 — Tennessee Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell has officially entered the elite ranks of women’s college basketball, with her recently restructured contract pushing her base salary to $1 million annually — a 33% increase from her original deal. The landmark contract extension runs through 2030 and solidifies her place among the top-paid coaches in the SEC and nationwide.
The move comes after an extraordinary first season at the helm in Knoxville, where Caldwell led the Lady Vols to a 24–10 overall record, a Sweet 16 appearance, and a surge back into national prominence — including a signature win over longtime rival UConn, their first since 2007.
A Fast Rise, Fueled by Results
Caldwell’s debut season introduced a dynamic, fast-paced brand of basketball. Her offensive system shattered both SEC and program records for three-pointers made (343), and the Lady Vols ranked third in the nation in scoring, capturing the attention of fans and analysts alike.
More than just numbers, her leadership transformed the culture of the program. Despite coaching while pregnant, Caldwell delivered a season marked by grit, innovation, and player-first coaching. Her team bought in — finishing the year ranked in the AP Top 25, including a peak at No. 11, and averaging 10,000+ fans per home game, good for 5th in the nation in attendance.
A Commitment to Excellence — On and Off the Court
Athletic Director Danny White praised the new deal as an investment in the future of Lady Vols basketball.
“From day one, Kim Caldwell proved she’s a game-changer. Her high-octane style, competitive edge, and care for her players have reignited the Lady Vols legacy.”
The new contract includes personal travel perks for Caldwell and her family, as well as charter flight access for non-business use, further signaling Tennessee’s all-in commitment to their head coach.
A Bright Future Ahead
Caldwell isn’t slowing down. Her 2025 recruiting class is ranked among the best in the nation and features five ESPN Top 60 recruits, including five-star point guard Mia Pauldo. Through the transfer portal, she’s added top-tier talent from LSU, UCLA, and SMU.
With momentum building and expectations rising, one thing is clear: Tennessee women’s basketball is back — and Kim Caldwell is leading the charge. 🧡🏀
