Big Blue Nation, get ready to meet your next fan favorite. Malachi Moreno isn’t just another talented recruit—he’s a homegrown star with the kind of résumé, work ethic, and personality that makes him destined to thrive in Kentucky blue.

A McDonald’s All-American and the reigning Mr. Kentucky Basketball, Moreno put the finishing touch on a legendary high school career at Great Crossing High School by leading his team to a state championship. His numbers speak for themselves: 21.5 points, 14.9 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, and 3.5 assists per game in his senior year, proving he can dominate in every aspect of the game. His versatility has earned him recognition as a consensus top-25 prospect and one of the most complete big men in the 2025 class.

But Moreno isn’t just shining in Kentucky gyms—he’s already making waves on the international stage. He’s represented the United States with pride, taking part in the USA Basketball U19 National Team training camp, the Nike Hoop Summit, and Adidas Eurocamp, while also turning heads on the AAU circuit with Indiana Elite. Every step of the way, he’s shown he belongs among the best of the best.

Off the court, Malachi’s story is just as inspiring. Born October 24, 2006, to Sarah and Luis, family plays a huge role in his life. His older brother Michael was a standout at Eastern Kentucky, and Malachi is carrying that legacy even further. His most prized possession? His Bible, a symbol of his faith and grounded character. He chose his jersey number in honor of both Kobe Bryant and his own birthday—tying his journey to greatness with a legend’s legacy.

Fans will love the fun side of Malachi, too. His first dunk came at age 14. His favorite food? Pasta. His go-to movie? Step Brothers. His favorite TV show? Family Guy. And yes, he’s got a hidden talent—he can cook up a storm in the kitchen.

With favorite Wildcats like Justin Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns to look up to, Malachi Moreno is stepping into Lexington ready to add his name to the program’s rich history. He’s got the size, skill, and swagger to make an impact, and the heart to carry Kentucky basketball forward.

For Kentucky fans, the future just got brighter—and it wears No. 24. 💙
