Eric Dier has described Bayern Munich’s dramatic Bundesliga title triumph alongside his long-time friend Harry Kane as “one of the best moments” of his career – and admitted the memories still give him goosebumps.
The English defender, who swapped Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern in 2024, played a pivotal role in a season that ended with Bayern snatching the title on the final day. But for Dier, it wasn’t just about the silverware – it was about sharing the journey with Kane, a teammate he has known for over a decade.
“Winning the Bundesliga with Harry was something truly special,” Dier said in a recent interview. “We’d been through so many ups and downs at Spurs together, always pushing but just falling short of the big trophies. To finally lift a league title, and to do it by his side, was incredible. Even talking about it now gives me goosebumps.”
Kane’s arrival in Munich was headline news in 2023, and his first season saw him break Bundesliga scoring records. Dier followed shortly after, reuniting with his former captain and close friend. The pair became cornerstones of Thomas Tuchel’s side, with Kane delivering the goals and Dier providing much-needed defensive solidity.
“When we left Spurs, people questioned whether it was the right move,” Dier reflected. “But Bayern is a club built on winning, and that mentality is contagious. Harry settled straight away, and for me, it was a chance to test myself in a different league. The way it all came together was just perfect.”
For Dier, who had often been viewed as a steady but underappreciated figure in English football, lifting the Bundesliga trophy marked a career-defining chapter. “You work your whole life for moments like that. We’d worked so hard, both at Spurs and here in Germany, and when the final whistle went, it was pure joy. I looked at Harry, and we both just laughed – it felt surreal.”
As Bayern chase further glory this season in both domestic and European competitions, Dier insists the hunger has only grown stronger. “That title was a dream come true,” he said. “But once you’ve had a taste of it, you just want more.”
For two Englishmen who spent years fighting for silverware in North London, their Bavarian fairytale is far from finished.
