The managerial spotlight has once again shifted toward Old Trafford, where uncertainty looms over the future of current Manchester United boss Rúben Amorim. After a series of underwhelming performances and growing pressure from fans and pundits alike, reports suggest that former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández would be interested in taking over should United part ways with Amorim.

Xavi, who left Barcelona earlier this year after a turbulent spell at the Camp Nou, remains one of the most respected figures in modern football. His tactical philosophy, deeply rooted in possession football and intelligent pressing, has made him a sought-after name across Europe. Sources close to the 44-year-old Spaniard indicate that he views Manchester United as a “sleeping giant” and would relish the opportunity to restore the club’s competitive edge in both domestic and European competitions.

United’s season has been marked by inconsistency, with Amorim struggling to implement his system fully. While the Portuguese coach enjoyed success at Sporting CP, the demands at Old Trafford have proven far greater, with scrutiny intensifying after each setback. The club hierarchy, though still publicly backing Amorim, are said to be keeping an eye on potential replacements should results fail to improve.

For Xavi, the prospect of managing United holds a unique appeal. He has previously expressed admiration for the club’s history and its emphasis on attacking football, which mirrors his own ideals developed during his Barcelona career. His experience handling high-pressure environments at Barça could prove invaluable in navigating the demanding landscape of the Premier League.

However, challenges would await him. United’s squad, while talented, requires restructuring to fit a possession-based system. Questions would also be raised about his adaptability, as critics often accused Xavi of being tactically rigid during his Barcelona tenure. Still, his success in developing young players and instilling a clear footballing identity would align with United’s long-term vision.

The idea of Xavi at Old Trafford is already stirring debate among fans. Some see him as a fresh alternative capable of reigniting United’s glory days, while others fear his lack of Premier League experience could hinder progress.

For now, Amorim remains in charge, but with pressure mounting and United’s ambitions high, the possibility of Xavi stepping into the dugout cannot be ruled out. The coming weeks may prove decisive for both managers’ futures
