Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy has once again become the subject of transfer speculation following the revelation of a new release clause in his contract — and this time, it’s significantly lower than before.
According to Sky Sports Germany, the Guinean forward, who remains under contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2028, has a fresh clause set at €50 million, a notable drop from his previous one, which was reportedly between €65–70 million. The previous clause expired in the summer, but the new one has now been activated, giving a select group of clubs the chance to acquire the prolific striker at a reduced rate.
As revealed by BILD, this new clause is once again restricted — only certain top-tier clubs are allowed to trigger it. Notably, teams from Saudi Arabia are excluded, meaning that any potential move to the Saudi Pro League would require direct negotiations with Dortmund. In such a scenario, the German club would likely demand a higher transfer fee, especially given the striker’s current form and importance to their attack.
Guirassy’s impact since joining Dortmund from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024 has been nothing short of exceptional. The 29-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most lethal finishers, netting 44 goals in 58 appearances across all competitions. In league play alone, he has scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists in 35 matches, underscoring his all-around influence in the final third.
His physical presence, clinical finishing, and ability to create space have made him a nightmare for opposing defenses, while his leadership and consistency have cemented his place as a fan favorite at Signal Iduna Park.
With another clause now in place, attention will turn to which clubs might consider activating it next summer. European heavyweights in need of a proven goalscorer — particularly in the Premier League or Serie A — could view Guirassy as a relatively affordable target, especially given his form and experience.
For Dortmund, the challenge will be to either convince their star forward to stay beyond next season or prepare for a potential bidding war that could see Guirassy make yet another high-profile move in his career.
As things stand, one thing is clear — Serhou Guirassy’s name is set to dominate the transfer headlines once again in 2026.
